Looking to add a border or hedge of lilacs to your landscape this year? Look no further than the Paul Thirion lilac. This select hybrid cultivar has an exceptional beauty and dependability. Each spring the enormous trusses beautify the landscape while their exquisite fragrance wafts through the air perfuming entire neighborhoods.

This is a french (or common) lilac with a zone 3 hardiness.

It is a lovely spring blooming shrub featuring delightfully fragrant, fuchsia flowers with pink overtones in upright panicles. They make excellent cut flowers.

This shrub will need regular care and upkeep. It should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's flowers.

Paul Thirion lilacs will grow to be about 12 ft. tall at maturity, with a spread of approx. 8 ft. It tends to have a typical clearance of 2 ft. from the ground, and is suitable for planting under power lines. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approx. 30 years. This shrub should only be grown in full sunlight. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations, and should do just fine under average home landscape conditions. It is not particular as to soil type or pH.

If you have issues with deer eating your flowers, this is a good choice as they will leave these lilacs alone in favor of tastier treats. Another plus is that these blooms will attract butterflies to your yard as well.
