Ornamental Prunus
The Ornamental Prunus group, consist of three main sub-sections: Almonds, Plums and Cherries. Prunus can be deciduous or evergreen shrubs with showy flowers in spring, and often good autumn foliage colour. Some have edible fruit in autumn, and a few species have ornamental bark They typically are small to medium sized shrubs with a wide range of uses. They do wonderful as accent shrubs, in mass plantings or as hedges or screening.
Double Flowering PlumDouble Flowering Plum Prunus is one of the best spring blooming shrubs, the showy double pink blossoms cover the branches ahead of the green foliage. The serrated lobed leaves turn orange in fall. No fruit is produced.
