This is a french (or common) lilac with a zone 3 hardiness.
It is a lovely spring blooming shrub featuring delightfully fragrant, fuchsia flowers with pink overtones in upright panicles. They make excellent cut flowers.
This shrub will need regular care and upkeep. It should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's flowers.
If you have issues with deer eating your flowers, this is a good choice as they will leave these lilacs alone in favor of tastier treats. Another plus is that these blooms will attract butterflies to your yard as well.
